Roanoke Island Yacht Club Opens Registration for Third Annual Outer Banks Holiday Flotilla

MANTEO, North Carolina – October 22, 2026 – The Roanoke Island Yacht Club (RIYC) is excited to announce that registration has opened for its third annual holiday flotilla, scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 12, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. on the Manteo waterfront.

The flotilla is open to the entire Outer Banks community. Sailboats, powerboats, recreational, and commercial vessels are all welcome to sign up to participate in the festive event.

Prizes will be awarded for First Place, Runner Up, and Most Spirited entries. Interested parties may find more information and register at www.roanokeislandyachtclub.com/flotilla.

“The RIYC is proud to bring this tradition to Manteo again this year,” said Erik Nohre, Commodore of the club. “We are blessed with such great waterways and love helping the public enjoy them. We really encourage local boaters, not just our member fleet, to sign up and join us.”

About The Roanoke Island Yacht Club

The Roanoke Island Yacht Club (RIYC) was originally started in 1982. As members sailed away in the early 90s, the club lost its steam and went dormant. In early 2024, a new wave of sailors re-kindled that flame and brought the club back to life. By September of that year, they formed a board and re-established the yacht club. They bring a fresh take on the traditional yacht club while still keeping some time-honored mariner traditions. They are committed to supporting the local community and businesses.
